How to sample from movies and videos?
Aight, so I have some videos I'd like to sample sounds from. They are in mp4, divx etc. I am running Mac OSx 10.8.3 - any ideas and recomendations on programs that are the best for that? I'd love to get some opinions and advices from You! Regards!

MPC Ren feedback while recording sample
Ive got my TT hooked to the Ren using the Rens phono preamp and am recording as hot as i can without clipping but when i turn the volume knob i get loud feedback... What am i doing wrong?

Unusual sample clearing sitch
So I just dug up these casette recordings of a family member playing some pieces on the piano. We have a Gershwin song and a Aaron Copeland song. The question is, can I use these? The tunes are under copyright, but the performance was a student performance in the '80s (not that the year matters). Any ideas on who owns the rights to these recordings?

Where do you get your samples ?
Hey guys i was wondering where do you get your samples? alot of times i listen to samples on youtube and when i find something i like i can't find it anywhere. Some samples are very rare and even with soundhound it can't find anything. Any advice? I don't wanna sample from youtube cuz the quality sucks

Playing a sample across the keyboard
If chop a sample, lets say a one shot of a horn or a synth stab.
If play the one shot on my keyboard, is it safe to say that the key I play the sample on lets say I hit C# for example, that the sample would be played in that key, or would it just be played up or down the amount of semitones away from the samples original key?
This sounds confusing but please help?
I want to be able to just sample an instrument and then lets say play the FMaj Scale on my keyboard and use the sample as an instrument

Looking For The Perfect Sample To Finish This... (XXYYXX Type Beat)
Here's this smooth joint I've been working on, I recently heard a song called "About You" by XXYYXX and it inspired me to maybe try and throw a vocal sample in it. He sampled a Beyonce song. Building a track using sampled vocals
People of the future, I am trying to make a little hip hop beat by using a sample I made out of Elton John's song as the chorus vocals and working around that. Problem is, as you can hear, the track is a little bit off and I'm trying to manage the sample in a way that it fits the song perfectly without sounding too robotic and manipulated.
Any ideas of samplers/ways I could fix this little problem of mine without screwing it up more?
