Im new to sampling, got myself a MPC 2000XL, and im tryna make Hip Hop. What i would like to know first is what is your process when making a beat. Do you start with the drums or get a sample then add drums to it? And why do you use your process? Another thing say ive got a 2 or 4 bar sample and the sample has drums and hats in it, i can get rid of most of the bass and kick with my dj mixer but the hats and snare are still audible, so when i chop it up into equal pieces and put it on the pads and play it out it sounds fine but when i go to add drums its off. What are some ways i can fix that or get around it? And any other tips i would appreciate, since im just starting out.
