Research Project

Hello there, this is my first post in this forum...
I am currently undertaking a research project for my final year at university (Sound Technology degree)
And the topic I have chosen is sampling - more towards the technology side rather than actual creative use, although they somewhat go hand-in-hand.

So one of the things I am looking at is where the future of sampling will go, so I just pose this question to you for any suggestions;
What are the limitations you find with current crop of samplers (be it hardware, or more likely, software) and how do you think things could be improved and advanced.

Any good responses I promise to cite in my final essay.
