Mic preamp on turntables.

does anybody use a mic preamp or some other sort of enhancer to add color to their samples?

i have an mpc 2500 and some little ART phono preamp but im trying to figure out how to reduce all the excessive hissing and whatnot.

i dont use software, just mpc and turntable.
